Common Thread Give-a-way

ExhibitionIt is a pleasure to be a guest on the Common Thread Give-a-way.   Involved are  Kim Gifford  ( Pugs and Pics)      and Jane McMillen ( little house home arts)   and Rachel Barlow (picking my battles)   and then Maria Wulf , fullmoonfiberart.com.    I am offering my book called The Last Bird Sings  to the winner.   Names will be selected from comments.  They will go into a box  and be picked randomly.  The contest is run from Monday, June 3 rd until Wednesday the 5th.  I will announce the winner on Thursday the 6th of June.   I am looking forward to joining these highly talented women and cannot tell you how delighted I am to have been asked to be a guest.   I hope that many of you will spend some time looking at my work and comments are always appreciated.   To know that my work reaches and relates to some of you is rewarding.  I have posted an excerpt from the book which is part memoir and part philosophy.   I hope you will find it interesting.

  1. I would love to be entered in the give-a-way! I was drawn to the poem excerpt appearing on the Full Moon Fiber Arts web site, and look forward to learning more about your work.

  2. Hi, I am new to your blog, introduced by Maria Wulf. I look forward to seeing and reading more of your work!

  3. I’ve never been disappointed in any of Maria Wulf’s artist recommendations, and am happy to added your blog to my ‘must see, must read’ daily list. Thanks for the opportunity to win your book.

    • Jane, Maria’s recommendations are truly worth listening to. I am glad to see you listened.

  4. Your site is new to me – thank you Maria Wulf for pointing me here! Quliting and poetry are two of my favorite things! I’m also pleased to encounter a previous posting of yours “Begin with a Maybe” which I will share with my EN101 students this evening if I may. It’s appropriate for our discussion about using the essay form (and the research that may be undertaken to write) and its ability to open one’s mind to other possibilities. Look forward to following your posts in the future!

    • Susan, I hope your class goes well. Life is all about due process whether in thought or action. Visit often and welcome.

  6. Another Maria Wulf referral. I love your insights and perspective. I will definitely return to your site for more reading.

  7. As a fan and supporter of Maria Wulf, I greatly appreciate her introducing me to you and your creative mind. Reading the except from your book I was touched by the way your words allowed me to visualize your early life, and how it affected your feelings towards violence. It also brought back fond memories for me of listening to Ma Perkins and Helen Trent on the radio. When I was a little girl, during WW II, I would sit by the radio and listen to the soaps whenever I could. I don’t think I’ve heard those titles in years; they brought back a flood of memories of those lonely days while my father was stationed in the Pacific and the comfort I found living with my mother, my grandparents and her sister. They made the world seem warmer and safer during my formative years. I was only two and the time and the memories of those next three years are a jumble of laughter, tears and fear. Growing up during wartime made a lasting impression on me. The except from your book opened up a floodgate of memories. Thank you for sharing; I should love to be included in this month’s Common Thread Give Away. I would truly cherish receiving a copy of your book and will enjoy reading your blog in the future.
