A Resting Place. . . .

Conclusions are reached by methodical circumcision.  We  cut apart our hearts and yield what we can.

 *****

There will always be those things which cost dearly and have no remunerative value.  They may be outside our frame of reference but are recognized when the time is right.  Then you know you have paid dearly and given the full litre of blood.

*****

In the place where we rest, bless the multitudes for they know not what they do, let alone what they say.

 *****

The amount of  teaching that has gone on in this vestibule of the church of Man has been enormous.  Pray that the learning takes.

 *****

Too many people act with instinct without considering the source of that instinct.  What was once appropriate and serviceable, is no longer.

 *****

Instinct is a precarious word and human balance should not rest on the word ‘precarious’

*****

Nature’s balance is such that never is a dream dreamed without the ability to put it into motion.

*****

Life in a crucible is life in human form.

 *****

The look of innocence is the state of shock;  that level where the soul has rested, the mind has stopped pursuing and spirit dares not delve further.

*****

Timing is of the essence.  You cannot pull a tulip out of the ground nor can you force the petals of the rose to unfold with your own hands.  Of their own accord and in their own timing, they will.

*****

Not to trample hearts, but to cup them.

This I Know. . because I learned. . .

This I Know. . . because I learned. . .

Only with deeper understanding is there any basis for understanding.
*****
To love oneself presumes a selfishness man cannot abide in himself.
*****
Yet to be selfish presents an attitude of self acceptance, of tolerance that can only begin to be outward in the employment of attitude toward one’s neighbor, the Other.
*****
Unless emotional excesses, like ancient affronts are released, they will continue to be genetically transmissible.
*****
The split in man is so dichotomous, that his life is one mass of contradictions.
*****
When advancing age stiffens the limbs and makes the mind less elastic, we will find the inner ear listening to what the heart stirs.
*****
To say it is mine to do and do it is to take the bull by the horns.  And to say I will take responsibility for it is to tame the bull.
*****
Where will the young generation turn if not to those who pride themselves that their advancing years have brought a degree of wisdom?
*****
Who is going to teach when all about are denying that they are getting older, never mind wiser?
*****
Why is it considered cool to say you ‘know nothing’ when your body shouts your age to say you should have learned something?
*****
When our years pile upon us, why do we feel embarrassed when our experience has taught and we learned from it, to say ‘this I know.’
****
The persuasive voice is well trained to manipulate.  Today we call it selling.

Moments Of Thought. . . .for us. . .

Moments of Thought. . . .

In retrospect, everything becomes a moral decision.  Some of us only learn this in our dotage when reflecting on how we lived our lives.
*****
It is a vast classroom but the basic lesson is one of abandonment.  Everyone knows abandonment.  The hardest lesson to bring home is to dream into being the splendor that can come when the heart is healed
*****
To insert the cosmic into the mundane is what we must do.
*****
Whenever we embark on a choice, we embark also on change.  With choice comes responsibility to carry through.
*****
We are free to make other choices.  But when we come to commitments, there may be no choice at all. No options.
*****
One’s sense of one’s place in the larger picture heightens one’s sense of responsibility.
*****
Unless you can share your heart,  you cannot enter into a liaison with anyone and raise a family.
*****
You cannot force feed a menu when the seated are not hungry.
*****
The continuity of life is the only view worth harboring.  How else to explain the eternity it takes for a mushroom or daffodil to reach full potential?  One life does it for a human?
*****
In our solitude we don’t have an audience of peoples; we have an audience of souls.
*****
I have learned that if it is not done here, where I am, it will not be done elsewhere.  If I see this good to do, I must do it now or there will not be this chance nor these favorable circumstances again.
*****
When a good is done on one hearth, all hearths will do good throughout all worlds.

Thoughts For These Times. . .

Thoughts For These Times. . . .

On this historic day let us remember. . . .what is hidden will surface and cannot be forever controlled.
*****
Manipulation is the black boot sitting on the head.
*****
He wondered aloud whether he should drop Philosophy.  There is no other class worth the taking I said, except Ancient History and the Humanities.  And possibly The Religions of Man and maybe The Root of Languages. . . where my love has it gotten us?
*****
You cannot fix much, can you, when no one puts a name to that which is broken?
*****
One thing I have learned that if it is not done here where we are, it is not done elsewhere.  Do now what you see to be done for there will not be this particular chance nor these favorable circumstances again.
*****
Within the each is the knowledge that their God will rescue them.  Is it knowledge or is it faith?  Is this why people don’t try harder?  You see, try they do.  Doing is what they don’t.
*****
Life in a crucible is life in human form.
*****
We create what we earnestly desire.  Whether it be a life or a condition.
*****
To hope for something you see is a wanting.  To hope for something you don’t see is a yearning, a remembering.
*****
The very things we feel are stifling us can be the very things we draw strength from.  There is a continuity in all life and to draw on what we choose to be good for us takes a great deal of maturity.
*****
We are so apt to discard everything before we realize there are things of worth needing to be held onto.
*****
It is the process of evaluation which separates man not only from animals but also from his own kind.
*****
Freedom of choice is a responsibility.  It is also a sacrament.

Differing Perspectives. . .

There are those who close their eyes to what it is they see because they know what they see will contradict what they choose to believe.
*****
The look of innocence is the state of shock.  That level where the soul has rested, the mind has
stopped pursuing and spirit dares not delve deeper.
*****
When it is given because it was asked for, love becomes a duty and a chore.
*****
Regardless of what is done to you, your choices are limited the higher you reach for enlightenment.  The more given, the more that is required.
*****
We do not tread lightly where a heavy foot is needed.
*****
We are before we be something else or we were before we are.
*****
Individually and collectively man’s thirst for power and what it can do is such a long drink of water that there is not enough Perrier in the world to satiate his thirst.
*****
Time now for psychology of the divine to become Course Divine 101.
*****
As long as the eye beholds and another heart beats to receive, there will be reason to keep breathing and not giving up.
*****
The unfed spirit is just as hungry as the unfed body.
*****
A one sided effort does bring results.  Even when it appears to be a lost cause, it is not.
*****
When someone cares enough to do what needs to be done, it is never a lost cause.
*****
There cannot be lost effort to do good in the Universes.  That would be an oxymoron, a contradiction.  There is only limited understanding for the moment in who or what we are.

The Mind’s Residual. . . .

The Heavens open momentarily and close but the glimpses from the views linger and haunt one forever.

****

The Self wills but the human spirit cannot be legislated.  Statistics are meant to sell beer.

*****

It is not the Mystery of Life which stunts man and does not beguile him to further thought.  It is the work involved.

*****

It is not easy for Wendy to become Tinkerbell in one fell swoop.  Not without destroying Peter Pan in that one fell swoop.

*****

The long face of gloom does not become the human at all in the face of so many small victories, but the constant smile bespeaks an empty head too.

*****

Those who claim good mental health have it only as long as they keep themselves wrapped in their illusions free from self examination.

*****

Considering the condition of the world and considering who we confine to psychiatric wards, the question should arise how does one define who is mad in a mad society?

*****

For one to see with eyes that wrench the closet full of tears open to view is to others an invasion of privacy

*****

Speak the heart and in like silence the heart will respond.  In matters of the heart, doubt not.

*****

Bless the elements of design for they are all inclusive.

What seems like a tragedy in the absurd and obscure indeed is a well thought out and prescribed drama.

What Keeps Us Awake. . . .

To stand straight need not be at the expense of an other’s fall.  It can be because of one’s need to reach higher than one knows.
******
Facing one’s self in one’s declining years is a task best left to those who point to the kudos on the walls.  They have something to point to and their sights rest on accomplishments.  Others wonder if they failed the mark.
******
God is a word most people stop at because the mind balks at its meager knowledge to proceed.
******
To not remember is to lock the vault only to have it burglarized.  One is then called to remember without those whose presence would  have made the memories bearable either in joy or sorrow.
******
But to put memories into a vault and to tightly lid them is to crowd the emotions into a body with sometimes a mind bending escape as a respite.
******
Justification is a personal thing.  It is what keeps us going when all about point the finger of accusation at us.
******
In the work is the beauty and once translated, the beauty is in the work.
******
All dreams are for sale.  They cost a lifetime and by then you realize it wasn’t quite what you wanted, more perhaps what was needed.
******
A cure based on someone else’s faith is a tenuous cure at best.
******
The ability to recognize what another does not want to do for himself is also the ability to know when the effort is wasted.  Wasted because to use another is the easiest way to go.
******
When one has the knowledge, one also has the obligation.

With Knees Bent. . . .

With Knees Bent. . . .

There are those who  have learned the ways of the world but neglected to learn the lessons that might  have led to the same conclusions with understanding.

*****

In the midst of agonies, there is the absurdity.  But to carry the absurdity past its point, belabors it.

*****

The lessons have been taught over and over and now the students will either come to class on their own or continue recess.

*****

Today’s man only allows 30 seconds to capsule our thoughts.  Anything more smacks of lecturing and lecturing brings back a harness that mandatory education is.  Strange that he has forgotten ordinary conversation which once we engaged in happily.

*****

To be less than compassionate is to befoul the learning.  To be less than one’s best is to compromise.

*****

The mind set to turn a particular direction is already bent.

*****

Only as we observe that life is everlasting and neverending,  and the challenge is in the journey with hope,  mankind will tolerate the fact that destiny is in his hands.

*****

The greatest lessons are those that require digesting but man prefers it all to be done while he sleeps.  The most meaningful are those of length that he must trudge with footwork and those wrought in the places of ablution.

*****

We are out to lunch when an Other deals with what we are not aware of.

*****

We can take events and make good porridge from fermented oats.  Sometimes it is grain gone wild.

*****

There will be change simply because there will be shame.

*****

When what is done is done in good Grace and a full heart,  there will be knees bent at the bed’s edge.

*****

Let the music in my heart be heard in the spheres.  And let the heart interpret correctly.

Touchstones. . .

The strength of man is in himself and not in an Other.

*****

Knowing what to say is a social skill.  Meaning takes the form of action in the heart.

*****

The emotions generated by an event in one’s life hold a panoramic view of the entire life.  To dislodge one sacred cow will diminish the whole herd.

*****

What is purposefully discussed is not always successfully resolved.  What one says is not necessarily what one has incorporated within one’s fabric.

 *****

What is hidden will surface and cannot be forever controlled.

*****

A rock in the head is hard to take.  It hurts and leaves a welt.  But a heart which is pressed gives not blood but wine.

*****

There is no better place than here where you are now because unless you have earned a better place,  the lessons will be repeated.

*****

Civilized man puts order into his existence but not into his life.

*****

In the cliché ‘come hell or high water’, hell is closer than you think and high water is not too far either.

******

If we do not understand the wind, we will be caught in the whirlwind.

*****

May the angels rock your soul with lullabies and the gods listen carefully to your lectures.

*****

And yes, it is time for the world to know that when  heaven does not speak to the individual, it is time to ask why not.

When The Plough Seems Too Heavy. . . . .

Gleanings . . .

If you do not intend to look back, remember to lift the plough.  And sometimes the plough seems too heavy to lift but we push on anyway to find it is a joy and a privilege.

*****

Always state the condition of the heart in preference to appearance.  You will then see with eyes destined for immortality while you walk.

*****

Sometimes doing nothing at all helps a someone to mature faster than times which are hard on the heart.  Or doing nothing at all ruins a person more quickly by hardening the heart than times which are hard on the pocket book.

*****

Listen carefully to my heartbeat for you will hear your own.

*****

The greatest gift is that of the thinking mind.

*****

With the shrug of the shoulders, no work is ever completed.  It is with the footwork involved that we see what the work has meant.

*****

Do not expect what cannot be delivered.

*****

When you lament where is the end and in what universe is it all and then to conclude it is all universally good is not valid.  For then when you see where it is you are, the last chapter would be writ.  There is no last chapter.  Life is everlasting.

*****

With aging the blanks in memory are embarrassing and the pressures of the fast moving society makes them appear more frequently.  It has always been thus.

*****

Everything becomes a moral decision if one holds the long view.  Yet the long view is the only one and demands it lest there be no tomorrow for those whose propensity is for instant gratification.

*****

To suffer is to be aware of the damage you do to the ones you care about.
